Ennis Riverdancer travels the world

Riverdance is at the Gaiety Theatre for its summer run until August 28 and among the cast is dancer Laura Minogue from Ennis.

Laura began dancing at the age of five at the Uí Ruairc School of Irish Dancing and continued to achieve competitive success winning titles at All-Ireland, World Championship, British National and American National level.

In 1998, she retired from competitive dancing and began touring with a number of different dance shows. Since joining Riverdance in 2003, Laura has performed at Radio City Music Hall in New York, the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and Hammersmith Apollo in London, the Kremlin in Moscow, the Acropolis in Athens and at the Great Wall of China.

She says the rest of the year is looking quite busy. “We’re finishing in the Gaiety Theatre on August 28 and then we’re in the INEC, Killarney for a week. There’s another tour going to Israel and South Africa and one in America this year.”

She has been all over the world through her chosen career and says she loves going to different places. “I love it, I’ve been travelling since I left school in 1998. It’s a great way to explore and I’ve met amazing people,” she concludes.
