Sun, Sea & Hot air balloons..

This week the Liffey Company traveled south to the town of Bournemouth. At this location on the Tour, Riverdance performed 8 shows at the Bournemouth International Centre.

We were met with the sun when we arrived in this lovely seaside town. Naturally we all flocked to the beach to savour our day off and some of the cast even braved the cold sea for a quick dip.

This week we welcomed back two members of the company ‘Ant & Dec’ (Brian Shinners & James Keating’) Brian and James had been touring the UK and Ireland with the sell-out Ant & Dec Takeaway Tour. They had 8 fantastic weeks on tour with the two famous tv presenters and even brushed shoulders with a few celebrities. But they weren’t long getting back into the swing of things with an 8 show week in the BIC.

On Tuesday afternoon the cast were invited to afternoon tea with the Mayor of Bournemouth. This was a very nice welcome for the company and the Mayor even got a sneak peak of the show by an impromptu performance by some of the dancers.

Some of the Lucky Liffey had the opportunity to fly in a hot air balloon 500ft above Bournemouth this week. This popular attraction is situated in the town park and is the perfect way to see the 7 miles of beaches that stretch along the Coast. (I wouldn’t recommend it on a windy day)

Next week we split our time between Birmingham and Cardiff. The cast are excited to perform in two prestigious venues the NIA in Birmingham and the Hippodrome in Cardiff. I have a feeling the only sightseeing that will be done will be inside the Bullring shopping centre.
