Sneaky Steppers: Behind the scenes of the St Patricks Day Flash Mob

A sneaky look behind the scenes of this year’s St Patrick’s Day Flash Mob in Sydney Central Station.

The Sneaky Steppers orchestrated over 140 dancers in a spontaneous outbreak of Irish dance.

The dancers included the cast of Riverdance and school children who spread St Patrick’s Day cheer in Sydney.

Organised and coordinated by Tourism Ireland and Jason Oremus, Chris Naish and the Sneaky Steppers crew with special thanks to Julian Erskine and the Riverdance cast, the Sydney St Patrick’s Day Flash Mob made news around the world by gaining over 500,000 worldwide hits on Youtube in the first week and with 850,000 hits to date.

According to Tourism Ireland, the flashmob video was their biggest event for St Patrick’s Day 2011 and the video was the 5th most shared marketing video in the world for March 2011.

The video was also featured by a range of organizations including the LA Times, National Public Radio, Irish Daily Mail and Virgin Blue to promote tourism to Ireland.
