March 5, 2002
The 5th of March 2002 marked the 5000th performance of Riverdance since it first began in February 1995.
The Liffey company gathered onstage at the Edinburgh Playhouse that afternoon to celebrate the occasion with a cast photo in full costume and a cast and crew photo.
Special 5000th performance T-shirts were designed to mark the occasion listing all the cities Riverdance has toured to in its lifetime.
Meanwhile in San Francisco the Lagan Company also celebrated the 5000th performance with the help of the Mayor of San Francisco, Willie Lewis Brown, Jr. He was there to present Lagan principal dancers, Tara Barry and Michael Patrick Gallagher with a proclamation declaring March 6th 2002 as Riverdance Day in San Francisco.
