Riverdance performs at Slane Castle for Concert4Cancer

Riverdance is part of  the star-studded line up for Concert4Cancer in aid of the Marie Keating Foundation.  Concert4Cancer will be aired in Ireland on Virgin Media One on Friday August 28th at 9pm.
Riverdance will join a host of names including; Ronan Keating, Gary Barlow, Nathan Carter, Brian Kennedy, Lisa Lambe, Aimee, HotHouse Flowers, Paddy Casey with lots more to come.

Filmed at the spectacular location of Slane Castle, this special 25th Anniversary performance of Riverdance is the first time that the dancers have performed together since early March when due to COVID the tours in the UK and North America came to an abrupt halt. It is also the first time in the history of the show that the original choreography will have been re-worked to ensure social distancing.

Director and co-founder of Riverdance John McColgan explains why they came together to support the Foundation “COVID has been a very challenging time for all of us, and in Riverdance we had to make the difficult decision to postpone our 25th anniversary international tours. Our cast and crew have been unable to perform or come together like we usually would. When we were approached to get involved in this Concert4Cancer we were absolutely delighted to do so. All of us have been touched by cancer in some way, so when we were approached to get involved in Concert4Cancer we were absolutely delighted to do so. We feel that if Riverdance can use the power of it’s music, it’s dance and it’s reach, to help this great cause, then we absolutely have to do what we can to lend our support. We were delighted to support the Marie Keating Foundation which support so many people going through cancer. For the performers, they were thrilled to be involved but also delighted to be able to come together in the spectacular setting of Slane Castle, to perform together once again. It is the first time in our 25 year history, that the original choreography has been changed to ensure a socially distanced performance and we are really excited to present this unique version of Riverdance during Concert4Cancer. We hope everyone tunes in, enjoys the show and donates on the night to support this great cause”
