Riverdance pop up performance for the Hospice Foundation

On a sunny summer afternoon passers-by on South King Street Dublin enjoyed a special taster of Riverdance, as 14 members of the dance troupe performed 3 numbers from the show outside the Gaiety Theatre. The event was to mark the start of Riverdance’s summer season at the Gaiety running until 4th September and also to announce details of an association with the Irish Hospice Foundation. Riverdance has teamed up with the Irish Hospice Foundation to raise awareness and funds for the vital work of the charity. Details were announced of a 24 hour Irish DanceAthon hosted by Riverdance.

On 21st July at 12 noon dancers from the Riverdance troupe will kick off 24 hours of continuous Irish dance on the plaza outside the Gaiety Theatre. A large digital clock will hang from the canopy and count down the hours. Over the 24 hours, Riverdancers and Irish dancers from a number of dance schools will take part, ensuring that for 24 hours the dance goes on. Those passing by are invited to donate to the charity and maybe even join in the occasional ceili and to follow the event as it unfolds on social media. #Riverdance #DanceAthon
