Interview with Riverdance Singer Brioni Gallagher

Name: Brioni Gallagher
Nationality: Irish

At what age did you start singing?
Since I can remember!

When and what made you decide you wanted to be in Riverdance?
I always wanted a career in music and when I finished college I decided to send a CD to Riverdance just in case there were some auditions coming up. Fortunately there was and the rest is history! I have always loved the music in Riverdance and thought it would be a fantastic show to be part of.

Where did you audition for Riverdance & what was that like?
I auditioned in Walton´s School of Music in Dublin and I was very nervous. But I was put at ease and actually ended up enjoying it.

How did you feel when you heard you had got into the show?
Delighted! I really wanted the part and just couldn´t wait to get started.

What is your favourite part of the show?
Well I´m going to be bias and pick a scene that I´m in which is Cloudsong at the beginning of Riverdance. As a singer you´re quite exposed on your own for those few minutes which is exciting and its just a beautiful melody. The music and choreography in Countess Cathleen and Firedance are stunning too.

Best Riverdance moment?
Performing in Mao-Li Arena in Taiwan. It was the biggest venue I had ever performed in. After that performance I knew I was completely hooked.

What´s the question you´re asked the most when people find out you perform with Riverdance?
They usually presume that I´m a dancer and ask me do my legs get tired!

What are you listening to on your iPod at the moment?
Raphael Saadiq, Bat for Lashes and The Kills.
