Farewell Éire – Hello U.S.A.

Well this week began with the old ritual of taking down of the suitcase from my attic and since Hawaii wasn’t all too long ago, my case happens to be cobweb-free. (Sigh of relief!)
So I started the packing process with searching for my dance shoes.

Q&A with Padraic Moyles in Dallas

As Riverdance’s U.S. run comes to end, TheaterJones asked lead dancer Padraic Moyles to tell us what it’s like being a part of this sensational cast, the lore behind the Irish technique and what he thinks the show has done for Irish dancing, especially here in the U.S. The show makes its final North Texas appearance Feb. 7 and 8 at the Music Hall at Fair Park.

Riverdance makes Hawaii debut

“watch the feet – 95 percent of this happens from the waist down. The dancers actually play music with their feet”
“Look at the musicians. There is not a sheet of music anywhere. We’ve always insisted that is be treated like a ceili — a party.
“Its not a performance. It’s not a sort of masque. It’s live. It’s organic. It’s an event powered by pride.”

Saying goodbye in San Diego

Riverdance Producer Moya Doherty will be closing down the North American touring production by June 2012, which means when the show returns to San Diego this weekend, it really will be the last time you can see those quick tapping feet in town.

More from LA

A feast of entertainment was had by all in the exclusive Pantages Theatre in Hollywood this past week. And it wasn’t just the people of LA but also the cast and crew of Riverdance who were entertained.
Basing ourselves at the comfortable, Hollywood Renaissance Hotel, we enjoyed an array of daytime and nightime entertainment.

A busy week in LA

Ten very important Irish dancers made their way to the dressing rooms tucked away in the heart of the studio and were soon greeted by the film crew to begin rehearsals and blocking on the set of ‘The Price is Right’. How important we felt when the host Drew Carey jumped up onstage to greet us.
