Having toured worldwide successfully, the show is set to open at the Teatro at Montecasino in Johannesburg on January 25.

The show that offers styles such as rock, music, theatre and film will run until February 20.

Featuring 65 company members, the Irish group goes to Grand West Casino, Cape Town, from February 23 to 27.

Attie van Wyk, chief executive officer of BIG Concerts International, the company responsible for the show, said: “This show is a not-to-be-missed experience.”

Riverdance is an innovative and exciting blend of dance, music and song. It draws its influence from Irish traditions. The fusion of Irish dancing with diverse dance styles captures the imagination of audiences across all ages and cultures.

The show opened in 1995 and broke all box office records during its world premiere in Dublin. It has been seen by more than 22million people in more than 350 venues worldwide.

Riverdance is the development of an original idea (tracing the life of a river) by Moya Doherty, which was initially performed at the Eurovision Song Contest held in Dublin in 1994 as a seven-minute interval act.
